Songwa Project

Songwa Estates is a non-profit endeavor for the partners. Its scope is to provide educational experiences to specialty coffee industry stakeholders.

The farm is committed to high social and environmental standards and is geared to the Rainforest Alliance and Utz Kapeh standards. Additionally, there is constant dialogue between the surrounding villages to help improve living standards. The three day in-depth program is dedicated to the processing steps, from the seed to the availability of green coffee for exportation. The education program is presented by Thomas Plattner, Agronom ETH, Coffee and Africa Expert with over 20 years of experience. Participants, in addition to hands-on tasks and training on the farm, will gain knowledge on the theoretical aspects related to processing.
